Yesterday, Google announced that they are bringing in searchable scans of newspapers into Google News Archive Search.
It allows you to search news, headlines, content, and even ads! Here are two ads for a Ford Model T, one from April 1912 for about $750 and a more recent ad from May 1982 selling it as a vintage car (no price listed).
How incredibly useful! Google said they will continue to scan papers and make them searchable.

That’s cool. It will make searching newspaper achieves extremely easier! Anything has to beat microfilm.
That is wild, Google is becoming such a giant and extending it’s reach into so many different areas it will be interesting to see if they will ever get a major new competitor.

Cool! I always wanted to know what a corset cost back in the day. Guess I’ll get to find out now!
Wow, this is great!
I have been saying for years that the Internet is great for information and history except that someone needs to archive all the old newspapers! I am so excited about this news as Newspaper work is where I started my writing career!
I cannot wait! Thanks for sharing this news with everyone!

did they say what newspapers they will scan? there are literally thousands of newspapers around the world
Very interesting indeed specially that they are ’searchable’ and you can imagine how important is that for many fields. Hence no wonder that $750 is mentioned!
